About Me

I believe in pursuing dreams…

Hi! I’m Gita.

I’m so pleased you’re here. I believe you got here because you’ve been searching for some time. You’re a dreamer like me, wanting to build the life you were created for.

Through my own personal journey and much reflection, I’ve come to realize how important it is for each woman to figure out what she is intended for and then go get it!

My family immigrated to Canada, from India, in 1984. My parents decided to restart their life in a new country at the ages of 45 and 52, with four young children. My father had made a trip to North America and was so deeply moved by the opportunity here, he wanted us to be a part of it. My parents started from scratch when they landed. I am a dreamer because of them.

Growing up, I had a passion for literature, history, music, cuisine and growing things. I always dreamed I’d use my God-given talents to build something that truly reflected my authentic self, and inspired others. But somehow over the course of many years, I forgot my dreams.

Most immigrant children, especially from India, grow up believing that success is a career in medicine, engineering or any field focused on the study of math and science. So I chose to study engineering, even though I had no interest in it whatsoever. And it showed…I was a terrible student!

I subsequently did my MBA and started the corporate climb. I soon found myself in the exhausting life so many women have today: brutal commute, long stressful hours at the office, and organizations that always wanted more.

My truest happiness during this time was having my three profoundly beautiful children. But my stressful work gave me very little quality time with them, usually only for a good morning kiss, and a few stolen moments putting them to bed after all the housework was done. It was no life at all...

The never-ending treadmill of this existence loomed before me, until one day I decided! This was not the existence I had dreamed of many years ago. I wanted better…for me, my husband, my children. With absolute certainty I decided to finally focus my efforts on creating something that brought me joy. Something I connected with so deeply, it didn’t feel like work at all. I wanted to re-connect with the dream I still had deep inside me.

So I looked to what I loved. Despite my hectic schedule, I had always found a way to cook homemade, easy meals my family enjoyed and I was proud to serve. For as long as I could remember, I found great joy engaging my family and friends in the blessing that is food; where it comes from, what makes it tasty, and why eating real food every day is vital for health and happiness.

It was clear to me – I loved creating a connection with people and the food they eat. Helping them understand how wonderful food can be, cooked in healthy ways and above all, keeping it realistic and simple.

And on an even deeper level, a mission grew to inspire and help women pursue their dreams…the ones they once had, or were still dreaming as they went about their daily routine, just as I had for all those years.

Finding the opportunity with Epicure™ to build my own business and forge a new path has awakened and energized my life. For the first time in over 20 years I work with intention, I live each day with purpose, I go to sleep knowing I spent the day building something worthwhile. And heck…I’m having FUN! I now know in my heart I will build a future for my family that once existed only in my dreams.
